Why the name "Laelaps"?

The name Laelaps was chosen as a tribute to two things close to our hearts: our love of Greek mythology and the dog who started it all. Our first dog, Eris, was rescued from a dumpster in Greece and quickly lived up to her namesake—the Greek goddess of chaos. As our pack grew, we continued the Greek mythology theme and were drawn to Laelaps, the legendary hunting dog of Greek mythology. Laelaps was said to be so skilled that it could always catch whatever it pursued, making it a symbol of determination, drive, and an unwavering spirit. Those qualities reflect not only our dogs and our passion for dog sports, but also the journey that began with a scrappy little dumpster puppy who changed our lives forever.

The woman who started it all...

Hi, I'm Christine, the owner of Laelaps (& thats my husband behind me in the picure - hes just my hype man :P ). As a military spouse and lifelong dog enthusiast, I've spent years training, competing, and enjoying a variety of dog sports with my own dogs. Through that journey, I often found myself searching for quality gear that was both functional and affordable. That's what inspired me to start Laelaps. My goal is to create practical, customizable products for fellow dog lovers while keeping the business small, personal, and community-focused. Every product is designed with real-world experience in mind, and I take pride in offering unique items that help handlers and their dogs succeed while adding a personal touch you won't find from large retailers.
